For a perfect Christmas I would welcome a new tomte to my collection!! In 2018 I crocheted my own!
In Swedish tradition the tomte protects the farmer’s family and land. Tomtes are thought to be extremely short, incredibly strong, elderly males with long beards. They dress in farmer’s clothing. It is customary to show appreciation of the tomte’s protection by leaving him a bowl of porridge, with a small knob of butter on top, on Christmas Eve.
